Wedding season kicks off at The Normans

Apologies that we've been so quiet on the blog front for the past couple of months. We've been busy gearing up for wedding season, which, we're pleased to say, has kicked off in earnest!

David and Laura - now Mr & Mrs Pickles - were the first couple to hold their reception at The Normans wedding venue, North Yorkshire. We're pleased to say that their wedding was a truly fantastic occasion in every respect - from the beautiful bride to the wonderful flower arrangements, excellent food and the packed dance floor. Even the sunshine made a guest appearance!

New content on The Normans webpage

It's been a busy Easter weekend here at The Normans wedding venue, but we managed to find time in between viewings to update our website.

The eagle-eyed among you will see that we've started a Gallery page, which will only get bigger and better once we start hosting weddings (not long to go!). In the meantime, we'd like to thank Adam Wilson and Joss Widdowson - the talented photographers who have contributed some terrific pictures of our venue.

We'd also like to thank our friends Becky and Alex - two newlyweds who we cajoled, bullied and bribed (with champagne and the finest wines known to humanity) to model in a photo shoot that beautifully showcases the Courtyard and the Ceremony Barn. However, we suspect that Becky may have enjoyed getting dressed up in her wedding finery for the second time... We thank you both!

In addition to our sparkly new Gallery page, The Normans website now features the new 'Your Wedding' section, which bursts with information about hiring The Normans for your Big Day, lists recommended suppliers (from caterers to photographers to makeup artists), as well as nearby accommodation options and important information about how to book a registrar to conduct a marriage ceremony here.

We'll keep you updated with more developments. In the meantime, enjoy!

The Normans wedding venue is now licensed for marriage ceremonies!

We're delighted to announce that The Normans wedding venue, North Yorkshire, is now licensed to hold marriage ceremonies!

We celebrated the news with a photo shoot by London-based photographer Adam Wilson and super-sexy models Becky and Alex (friends who we tricked into doing the shoot with the promise of free champagne).

Couples who would like to get married here at The Normans should first check availability with the good people at Selby Registration Office by email. You will need to state the date you would like to get married at The Normans and leave your daytime telephone number. An officer will then get back to you.

The Normans wedding venue at The UK Wedding Event, York Racecourse

It's been a while since we've updated our blog (apologies), but we've been so busy since opening a couple of weeks ago, we just haven't had the time.

Our weekends (and weekdays, thinking about it) have been jam-packed with viewings and we've received some great feedback, so far. So, a BIG thank you to everyone who has come to see us.

If you haven't yet had the chance to visit and would like to book a viewing, then don't hesitate to get in touch and we'll arrange a date.

The team at The Normans also made an appearance at The UK Wedding Event at York Racecourse on Sunday March 20 (see picture). It was great to meet so many brides-to-be (and their ever-enthusiastic husbands!), as well as some really cool suppliers.

Thanks to photographer Joss Widdowson who took the amazing picture of our Courtyard, which we used for our backdrop at the event (and for our homepage). And, also, many thanks to ITP in Easingwold for helping us print said image onto such a huge banner! Last of all, thank you to everyone who dropped by to say hello!

We're looking forward to making an appearance at more wedding fayres and events soon. Hopefully see you there!

Photographer Kate Gray's beautiful photos captured the look and feel of our big day, and indeed The Normans wedding venue, which - as you can see - is perfect for winter weddings and summer weddings alike. 

We can't wait to share more images of our exciting new venue, which is so very, very nearly finished!

With our Grand Opening scheduled for early Spring, March is shaping up to be a big month for The Normans, which is why 'The UK Wedding Event - York Racecourse' couldn't come at a better time!

On March 20, we'll be there with armfuls of promotional material, the latest images of our wonderful new Courtyard, Marquee and Ceremony Barn, as well as up-to-date site plans so you can see exactly what our unique venue has to offer you on your big day!

The grand opening of The Normans is just under two months away, but our wedding venue is already being featured in some of Yorkshire's top wedding magazines!

We are thrilled that our wedding was chosen for the cover of the November-December 2015 issue of Your Yorkshire Wedding magazine (featuring our beloved pug, Betty!)

We hope that the four-page spread will give you an idea of what to expect from our stunning new wedding venue, which combines rustic features with innovative design: just the spot for a truly unique wedding.

A month later, The Normans Weddings & Events found its way into Yorkshire Bride magazine, an annual publication chock-full of the best wedding venues and suppliers in the county for Yorkshire's brides-to-be.

As you'll see, our wedding venue will feature a beautifully landscaped south-facing courtyard complete with gorgeous flowers, lighting, water feature and seating (where better to sup champagne in the sun?)

Just off The Courtyard you can step into our amazing atrium-roofed marquee - at 12m x 21m there's room enough for dining, drinking and dancing, whatever the size of your guest list.

To the south of The Courtyard you can tie the knot in our rustic barn, while to the west are the quirky Cow Stalls that make for the ultimate country-cool snug!
