Marriage ceremonies at
The Normans wedding venue

The Normans is fully licensed to hold wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships.

However, it is up to you to book the registrar…

Booking your registrar

We recommend that, during your two-week reservation period, you check the availability of North Yorkshire County Council registrars on your chosen date.

The last thing we want is for you to book The Normans, only to find that there isn't a registrar available to conduct your ceremony! (This is highly unlikely, but it's worth mentioning!)

All you need to do is email ceremonies@northyorks.gov.uk.

You’ll be asked for the date of your wedding, the venue, and your contact details. You'll also be asked to pay a deposit to secure your booking.

The nice people at the registration office will get back to you as soon as they can.

Ceremony times

We recommend booking a 1pm or 2pm ceremony.

While it's very likely a registrar will be available to conduct the ceremony on your chosen date, you may have to be flexible with times - especially during peak season.

If you can’t get the time you’re after, or if you have any concerns about getting married later in the afternoon than you planned, give us a call.

We have some great on-the-day itineraries to suit all ceremony times, as well as back-up options and alternative ceremony ideas for couples who can’t secure their preferred time.

Celebrants

There's nothing stopping couples from booking a celebrant to conduct a symbolic ceremony at The Normans wedding venue at a time of their choosing.

Ceremonies conducted by celebrants are great fun - a celebrant can tailor proceedings to make a ceremony far more personal.

Couples can, of course, exchange vows and rings, and sign a symbolic document on the day. But remember: a celebrant-officiated ceremony isn't legally binding (so couple will need to marry in a registry office before or after the wedding day!)
